Changelog
0.2.0 (beta, 25 Oct 2026)
The first beta. Everything since 0.1.0 (20 Oct). The index is upgraded on first start (a backup is made first).
New in the beta
- A new name, Potheon: the app, the panels and the installer have their new name and the website's magenta colour.
- A Windows installer: everything in one download, ffmpeg included. It installs to Program Files (or just for you, without admin rights), and you can choose the folder.
- Automatic updates: the app checks for new versions, verifies them and installs them (app, agent and panels together).
- Licences: the Free plan (1 hour of new footage a month, plus 2 extra hours in your first month; everything scanned stays searchable). A licence key unlocks Creator; beta testers get one free for the beta.
- Report a problem in the app: sends us what we need to fix it, without your file names.
- A first-run tour: pick a folder, try a first search, see what the free hours cover.
- Mood searches ("badass moments", "someone crying alone") and a show filter that works while results are ranked.
- Moved or renamed library folders keep their index: point the library at the new place.
- Characters named from the show's cast: more characters get their name automatically, and only when the match is clear.
Fixed in the beta
- Some speech was transcribed as the same line repeated over and over, losing the real dialogue. Affected files are repaired automatically (only the damaged parts are redone).
- A drive or folder that couldn't be read during a scan no longer removes its files from the index.
- A face group could collect several different characters under one name.
New (since 0.1.0)
- Who says each line: voices are told apart and tied to characters, so "X saying Y" finds X's lines even when X is off screen (Dialogue and Shots tabs).
- MP4 copies for editors: files Premiere and After Effects can't open get an MP4 copy (only the parts they can't read are re-encoded), next to the folder or wherever you choose. Copies keep just the audio language you search in.
- Original or dubbed audio per library.
- Character names from AniList: pick the show and clear matches are named from the cast; "@name" picks a character in the search box.
- Live action and 3D: footage type is detected, and real people are never named automatically (you name someone once, and their other faces follow).
- Test the search (Settings): rate searches to measure accuracy on your footage.
- Works on more PCs: if the graphics card drops out (a driver update, sleep, a laptop switching chips), scanning carries on and switches back when the card returns. On PCs with less memory, the models for refining picture searches load only while needed, so results stay the same.
- Memory guard: if the PC is about to run out of memory, scans pause and idle models are freed so your editing app doesn't crash. Scans resume by themselves.
Changed
- Scans finish about a third sooner: picture refinement is made afterwards, while the PC is idle (it stops the moment you search, and starts again later). Until then, a new episode's picture searches aren't refined yet.
- Each episode is searchable with its characters as soon as it's scanned (before, character searches waited for the whole library). Settings, Scan order, keeps the old order as an option.
- PCs without a graphics card use the large speech model too (8 GB or more): it stays close to a graphics card's transcript in English and Japanese, where the small models it used to pick missed many foreign words. Files already transcribed aren't redone.
- Search is one step: results arrive already in their best order.
- Closest matches are shown as results, without a "no sure match" warning.
- The agent uses less than half the memory (about 8.5 GB with all models, from 20 GB); 1.3 GB of search data can be handed back to Windows whenever an editing app needs it.
- The Characters tab shows 100 groups at a time, with "Show more".
Fixed
- The panel went blank on large libraries (thousands of face groups).
- Moving faces could make a search fail ("agent returned 500"); corrections are now instant.
- Faces from one show were added to characters from another show.
- Previews and searches failed when the PC ran low on memory.
- Previews stayed slow after a temporary graphics problem until the agent restarted.
- HEVC files' copies didn't import into Premiere (they're now H.264).
